Centralised AI functions eliminate the need for expensive, analytic-enabled CCTV cameras
Choice has been awarded the contract to provide and maintain an artificial intelligence-enhanced (AI), cloud-hosted CCTV security system across an estate of UK-wide premises occupied by multiple, blue-chip tenant businesses. Choice won the project by initially designing this system in cooperation with AI security specialist Eagle Eye Networks.
A key benefit of the system is its ability to incorporate AI functions – such as image search and people counting – without the cost of specialist analytic technology having to be built into each camera installed.
Natural language word searching of images
AI image search is a powerful identification function that can be applied to the privately encrypted CCTV images after they have been consolidated in the cloud. Natural language word searching (eg: ‘person with a blue shirt’) can be applied to all, or a time-defined part, of the captured image database via the video management system, in a similar manner to using an internet search engine.
Only CCTV cameras and a ‘CCTV bridge’ will be installed at the sites, so no on-site security management of CCTV is required. Cloud hosting means that all control and management techology and operations, including image review, are located elsewhere (including a Choice Helpdesk facility). Each CCTV bridge can store images at a site for up to 48 hours, to allow for local variations in bandwidth availability and ensure all images are sent on for control and archive purposes. Image uploads can be scheduled for out-of-business-hours transmission should local bandwidth availability be particularly poor. A minimum off-site image storage period of 90 days was specified.
“We’re very pleased to have been awarded this leading-edge CCTV/AI security contract, with the support of Eagle Eye Networks,” said Choice project manager Lee Evans. “Application of the latest technologies, multi-site projects and blue-chip client support make up a major component of the experience that the Choice team brings to the marketplace.”
