Securing corporate data against cyber attack
Choice has gained Cyber Essentials accreditation. It has acquired this certification to the UK government information assurance scheme with the assistance of IT partner/service provider SEDCOM Networks.
Cyber Essentials is operated by the National Cyber Security Centre. It is designed to help organisations to protect themselves against a whole range of the most common cyber attacks. The aim is primarily to assure customers that company data, one of the most vital corporate assets – particularly in the fire and security sector – is itself secure within Choice’s IT infrastructure.
In essence the annually renewable certification process has a scope covering: boundary firewalls and internet gateways, secure configuration, access control, malware protection and patch management.
“In the physical security and fire systems sectors the robustness of IT infrastructure and the countering of cyber security threats is of ever-growing importance,” said Choice Director Barry Critchell. “Our Cyber Essentials accreditation is designed to reassure customers that this certified business is always working to secure its IT against cyber attack. The demonstration that cyber security measures are in place should also be an added attractant to new customers. Additionally, some Government contracts require Cyber Essentials certification.”
